In which year was Aladdin released?

The story behind the answer

“Aladdin” was released in 1992.

Disney’s animated “Aladdin” premiered in 1992 as a musical fantasy adventure based loosely on the Aladdin folktale associated with “One Thousand and One Nights.” John Musker and Ron Clements directed the film, which follows a street urchin who discovers a magic lamp and tries to win Princess Jasmine’s love while opposing Jafar.

The film had an early theatrical release on November 11, 1992, before expanding to more cinemas later that month. Its success made it the highest-grossing film of 1992 and one of Disney’s most influential animated features.

Robin Williams’s performance as the Genie became a major part of the film’s identity, while Alan Menken’s music helped it win two Academy Awards. “A Whole New World” won Best Original Song, and Menken’s score won Best Original Score. The 2019 live-action remake is a separate release and should not change the answer to this question.
