Which developer remastered the Spyro trilogy in 2018?
Answer
Toys for Bob
Answer
Toys for Bob
Toys for Bob remastered the Spyro trilogy in 2018 as Spyro Reignited Trilogy.
The compilation recreated Spyro the Dragon, Spyro 2: Ripto’s Rage!, and Spyro: Year of the Dragon, which Insomniac Games originally developed for the PlayStation. Toys for Bob rebuilt the games with new character models, environments, animations, lighting, and sound using Unreal Engine 4.
The project was announced in April 2018 and released for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on November 13, 2018. Although Toys for Bob was the lead developer, Sanzaru Games assisted with parts of the Year of the Dragon content, while Iron Galaxy later handled the Windows port. Those supporting roles can cause confusion, but they do not change the credited lead developer.
The remake was designed to preserve the original level layouts and gameplay while adding more expressive characters and modern controls. It also brought back original voice actors and included remixed music by Stewart Copeland, who composed the original trilogy’s soundtracks.
