John Galliano created Kate Moss’s wedding dress for her 2011 marriage to Jamie Hince.
Moss married musician Jamie Hince on 1 July 2011 in Southrop, Gloucestershire, wearing a bias-cut, vintage-inspired gown by Galliano. The dress used pale, shimmering fabric and a relaxed, body-skimming shape rather than a heavily structured princess silhouette. Its 1920s and 1930s references reflected Moss’s long-standing association with bohemian and vintage fashion.
Galliano had previously served as a major designer at Christian Dior and was known for theatrical historical references, elaborate embellishment and couture craftsmanship. For Moss’s wedding, the result was notably softer and more understated than some of his runway work, helping reinforce the popularity of fluid, slip-like bridal gowns in early-2010s fashion.
The dress is sometimes confused with celebrity gowns by Stella McCartney or Vivienne Westwood, both of whom have designed prominent bridal looks. Moss’s ceremony gown, however, was by John Galliano. Her wedding style also included a long veil and a vintage-influenced overall look, but the dress itself remains the key Galliano creation associated with the event.
