Virgil Abloh created Hailey Baldwin’s custom lace wedding gown for her 2019 ceremony with Justin Bieber.
Baldwin and Bieber held their formal wedding ceremony in September 2019 in South Carolina, after legally marrying in New York in 2018. Abloh designed Baldwin’s long-sleeved lace gown through his label Off-White. The dress combined traditional bridal lace with a modern, highly recognizable slogan detail on the veil.
The look became an important example of the late-2010s fashion trend toward designer streetwear entering luxury bridalwear. Abloh’s involvement also connected a conventional wedding silhouette with his broader visual language of quotation marks and graphic text.
The gown is sometimes attributed only to Off-White, but Virgil Abloh was the designer behind the custom creation. Baldwin also wore additional outfits by other designers during the wedding events, which can cause confusion when the ceremony looks are discussed together.
