Saturday had the most matches in the 2026–27 Premier League opening weekend.
Five fixtures were played on Saturday, 22 August 2026. They were Hull City versus Manchester United, Ipswich Town versus Sunderland, Everton versus Crystal Palace, Nottingham Forest versus Leeds United, and Brentford versus Tottenham Hotspur.
The remaining fixtures were divided across the other three days: Arsenal versus Coventry City was played on Friday, three matches took place on Sunday, and Fulham versus Chelsea concluded the round on Monday.
Saturday’s five-match programme was not the same as a standard simultaneous 3 p.m. schedule. The fixtures were staggered across the day, including an early lunchtime match and a later evening fixture for broadcast purposes.
