Phil Taylor won eight consecutive PDC World Championships from 1995 through 2002.
Taylor’s run began with his second PDC world title in 1995 and continued through the 2002 final. He defeated Paul Lim, Dennis Priestley, Peter Manley and other leading players during different stages of the streak.
The sequence made Taylor the defining champion of the early PDC era. He had already won the inaugural PDC championship in 1994, but Dennis Priestley beat him in that first final. Taylor then dominated the event for eight straight editions.
The record is often confused with Taylor’s total number of PDC world titles, which was 14. His consecutive-title record covers the 1995–2002 championships, while his final PDC world title came in 2013.
