Which darts player became the first to win both the BDO and PDC world championships?

Dennis Priestley became the first darts player to win both the BDO and PDC world championships.

Priestley won the British Darts Organisation World Professional Darts Championship in 1991, defeating Eric Bristow in the final. After the professional split that created the World Darts Council, later renamed the PDC, he won its first world championship in 1994.

His two titles came in different organisational eras. The BDO championship was the established major event before the breakaway circuit developed, while the 1994 PDC championship marked the beginning of a separate world-title history.

Phil Taylor also won world championships under both organisations, but Priestley achieved the feat first. He was widely known by the nickname “The Menace” and remained an important figure in the early PDC period.
