The Covenant tank Master Chief can hijack in Halo: Campaign Evolved is the Wraith. The remake adds vehicle hijacking and makes the Covenant’s heavy mortar tank pilotable in the Halo: Combat Evolved campaign for the first time.
The Wraith is one of the Covenant’s signature armored vehicles. It carries a powerful plasma mortar, has heavy protection, and is normally operated by a Covenant driver and gunner. In the original 2001 campaign, players could fight Wraiths but could not drive them themselves.
Campaign Evolved borrows several mechanics introduced in later Halo games, including vehicle hijacking and expanded access to Covenant equipment. The remake also adds later-series weapons and modern movement options such as sprinting, which can be disabled for a more classic feel.
The Scorpion is the tempting alternative because it is Halo’s famous human tank, but it belongs to the UNSC rather than the Covenant. The Hornet and Mongoose are also human vehicles, so only the Wraith fits the question.
