Which country topped the medal table at the 2020 Summer Paralympic Games?

The story behind the answer

China topped the medal table at the 2020 Summer Paralympic Games.

China finished first in Tokyo with 96 gold medals, 60 silver medals and 51 bronze medals, for 207 medals overall. The Games were held in 2021 after the COVID-19 pandemic caused a one-year postponement, but they retained the official name Tokyo 2020.

Great Britain finished second by gold medals, while the United States placed fourth. Medal-table rankings are normally ordered first by gold medals, then silver and bronze when gold totals are tied.

The result continued China’s strong Paralympic record in the 21st century. China also topped the medal table at the 2004, 2008, 2012 and 2016 Summer Paralympic Games.
