Norway hosts the cliffside motorcycle jump in Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One.
The film’s signature stunt shows Ethan Hunt riding a motorcycle off a mountain and deploying a parachute before descending toward a moving train. Production filmed the jump sequence in Norway, using the country’s mountainous terrain for the spectacular setting. Tom Cruise performed the stunt himself after extensive preparation.
The sequence was created for the 2023 film, directed by Christopher McQuarrie. It became one of the most publicized practical stunts in the franchise, reflecting the series’ emphasis on large-scale physical action rather than relying entirely on computer-generated imagery.
Norway is sometimes confused with other European locations used in the film, including Rome and Venice. Those cities host major chase and story sequences, but the motorcycle launch from the cliff was filmed in Norway.
