Which country hosted the 1988 Summer Paralympics?
Answer
South Korea
Answer
South Korea
South Korea hosted the 1988 Summer Paralympics in Seoul.
The Games took place from 15 to 24 October 1988, following the Seoul Olympic Games. They marked an important change in the relationship between the Olympic and Paralympic movements: the Paralympic competitions used many of the same venues and facilities as the Olympics. Seoul therefore helped establish the modern pattern of holding both events in the same host city.
More than 3,000 athletes from over 60 countries competed across 16 sports. The Games also helped increase international visibility for elite disability sport. Seoul is sometimes confused with the host of the 1984 Summer Paralympics, which were held in New York and Stoke Mandeville after organisational changes. The 1988 Games were the first Summer Paralympics held in South Korea.
