Which country celebrates Mother's Day on 1 June, together with Children's Day?

The story behind the answer

Mongolia celebrates Mother’s Day on 1 June together with Children’s Day.

The combined observance is commonly known as Mother and Children’s Day. It is a public holiday that joins recognition of mothers with festivities centered on children, giving the date a broader family emphasis than the separate Mother’s Day traditions found in many countries.

Mongolia has observed Children’s Day on 1 June since 1952. After the democratic revolution, the State Baga Khural amended the labor law in 1991 to add Mother and Children’s Day—June 1—to the list of public holidays. The date therefore has both an international children’s-observance background and a specifically Mongolian legal history.

The date is easy to confuse with Mongolia’s International Women’s Day observance on 8 March or with the second Sunday in May, used by many countries for Mother’s Day. Myanmar, the Maldives, and Malawi also have distinct dates, but none matches Mongolia’s combined 1 June observance.
