Which console was the original Crash Bandicoot first released for?
Answer
PlayStation
Answer
PlayStation
The original Crash Bandicoot was first released for the PlayStation.
Developed by Naughty Dog and published by Sony Computer Entertainment, Crash Bandicoot was designed as a three-dimensional platform game for Sony's first console. Naughty Dog chose the PlayStation partly because Sony wanted a mascot character to rival Nintendo's Mario and Sega's Sonic.
The game introduced Crash, a genetically enhanced bandicoot who battles the plans of Doctor Neo Cortex and attempts to rescue Tawna. Its behind-the-character camera, colorful environments, crates, and demanding platforming helped establish the series as one of the PlayStation's signature franchises.
The original release should not be confused with later ports, remakes, or spin-offs. Crash Bandicoot: N. Sane Trilogy later brought a remake of the first three games to newer platforms, but the first Crash game itself debuted on PlayStation. Dreamcast, Sega Saturn, and Nintendo 64 were not its original console.
