Which composer wrote the original score for Christopher Nolan’s Tenet?

The story behind the answer

Ludwig Göransson wrote the original score for Christopher Nolan’s Tenet.

Tenet was Nolan’s first feature film scored by Göransson. Nolan’s regular collaborator Hans Zimmer did not compose it because he was committed to scoring Denis Villeneuve’s Dune. Göransson therefore created the music for the 2020 science-fiction spy thriller, combining orchestral writing with electronic textures and aggressive rhythmic design.

The film’s plot concerns international espionage and technology that allows objects and people to move backward through time. John David Washington stars as the Protagonist, with Robert Pattinson, Elizabeth Debicki, Kenneth Branagh, and Michael Caine in supporting roles.

Göransson was already known for work in film, television, and popular music, including Black Panther and Creed. His Tenet score is sometimes mistakenly attributed to Zimmer because of the recurring Nolan-Zimmer partnership, but the credited composer is Göransson.
