Which actress plays Mal Cobb in Christopher Nolan’s Inception?

Marion Cotillard plays Mal Cobb in Christopher Nolan’s Inception.

Mal is the deceased wife of Dom Cobb and appears within his dreams as a projection shaped by grief, guilt, and unresolved memories. Her presence repeatedly disrupts Cobb’s missions because his subconscious continues to recreate her and challenge the boundaries between his personal trauma and the constructed dream worlds.

Cotillard’s role is distinct from Ellen Page’s Ariadne, the architecture student who joins Cobb’s team, and from the other members of the extraction crew. Mal’s identity is also central to the film’s emotional mystery and to Cobb’s gradual confrontation with the past.

Inception was released in 2010 and combines science-fiction ideas about shared dreaming with a heist-film structure.
