Hans Zimmer created the original score for Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight Rises.
Zimmer had previously co-composed the music for Batman Begins with James Newton Howard and then scored The Dark Knight alone. For The Dark Knight Rises, he developed a large-scale sound built around percussion, brass, electronics, and recurring musical motifs.
The score supports the film’s themes of revolution, sacrifice, and renewal. A chant associated with Bane became one of its most recognizable musical elements, while Batman’s musical material returns in altered forms as Bruce Wayne confronts his final crisis.
The Dark Knight Rises was released in 2012 and completed Nolan’s Batman trilogy. Zimmer also composed the scores for Inception, Interstellar, and Dunkirk, making him one of Nolan’s most important recurring collaborators.
