Which composer co-wrote Halo: Combat Evolved's score with Martin O'Donnell?

The story behind the answer

Michael Salvatori co-wrote Halo: Combat Evolved's score with Martin O'Donnell.

The two composers collaborated through TotalAudio, the production company they founded, before and during Bungie's development of Halo. O'Donnell served as the game's principal audio director, while Salvatori contributed as co-composer, musician, and producer. Their partnership helped establish the series' distinctive musical identity.

The score combines orchestral writing, percussion, choral textures, and electronic elements. The opening theme, often simply called “Halo,” became one of gaming's most recognizable pieces and was first created for the game's 1999 Macworld presentation. The original soundtrack album followed on June 11, 2002.

Kazuma Jinnouchi later composed for Halo 5 and other Halo projects, while Neil Davidge worked on Halo 4. Marty Friedman is a guitarist and solo artist, not the composer credited for Combat Evolved.
