Which company supplied the graphics processor for the original Xbox?

The story behind the answer

Nvidia supplied the graphics processor for the original Xbox.

The first Xbox used a custom graphics-processing unit developed by Nvidia and commonly known as the NV2A. It was based on Nvidia’s GeForce 3 family and gave Microsoft’s console advanced features for its 2001 launch, including hardware transform and lighting and programmable shaders. Nvidia also supplied the console’s system chipset, while Intel provided the Pentium III-based central processor.

This arrangement is easy to confuse with later Xbox hardware. AMD became the supplier of the custom CPU and graphics technology used in the Xbox One, Xbox One X, Xbox Series X, and Xbox Series S. ATI, later acquired by AMD, supplied graphics technology for the Xbox 360. Thus Nvidia is specifically associated with the original Xbox generation, not the Xbox 360 or modern Xbox consoles.
