Which company published the first issue of Uncle Scrooge comic books in 1952?

The story behind the answer

Dell Comics published the first issue of Uncle Scrooge comic books in 1952.

Uncle Scrooge was created by Carl Barks, who introduced Scrooge McDuck in the 1947 Donald Duck story “Christmas on Bear Mountain.” The character proved popular enough to receive a dedicated comic-book title several years later.

Dell Comics issued Uncle Scrooge beginning in 1952. The series became one of the most influential Disney comic lines, especially through Barks’s adventurous stories, treasure hunts and detailed fictional history of Scrooge’s wealth.

Western Publishing is a frequent source of confusion because it was closely involved with Disney comics and later published many Disney titles through Gold Key Comics. Dell, however, was the publisher of the original Uncle Scrooge series. The title’s success helped make Scrooge one of Disney’s most important comic-book characters.
