Which company operated the first all-civilian orbital spaceflight, Inspiration4?

The story behind the answer

SpaceX operated Inspiration4, the first all-civilian orbital spaceflight. The mission launched four private citizens aboard a Crew Dragon spacecraft on 15 September 2021.

Inspiration4 was commanded by Jared Isaacman, who funded the mission and used it to raise money for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. The other crew members were Sian Proctor, Hayley Arceneaux, and Chris Sembroski.

The spacecraft flew higher than the International Space Station’s usual orbit and remained in orbit for about three days before splashing down. It did not visit the station, making it different from private astronaut missions organized to travel there.

The phrase “all-civilian” refers to the crew’s status: none was a government astronaut assigned to the mission. SpaceX supplied the launch vehicle, spacecraft, training, mission operations, and recovery services.
