Which company created the original Star Wars action-figure carrying cases?

The story behind the answer

Kenner Products created the original Star Wars action-figure carrying cases.

Carrying cases were practical accessories for children who owned multiple small figures. Kenner designed them to store and transport the company’s compact Star Wars figures, often using recognizable franchise imagery and character artwork on the exterior.

The cases belonged to the same merchandise ecosystem as Kenner’s figures, vehicles, playsets, and accessories. Their purpose was not simply decorative: the molded or fitted interiors helped keep figures together and made portable play easier.

Collectors sometimes attribute vintage Star Wars cases to Hasbro because Hasbro later controlled the Kenner brand and produced subsequent merchandise. The original cases, however, belong to Kenner’s classic Star Wars product history. They are also distinct from display boxes and mail-order packaging, which served different purposes in the early toy line.
