Which company created the first official Star Wars action figure line in 1978?

The story behind the answer

Kenner created the first official Star Wars action figure line released in 1978. The collection followed the company’s 1977 Early Bird promotion and established the standard format for the franchise’s toys.

The initial range used a compact scale and included characters such as Luke Skywalker, Princess Leia, Chewbacca, and Darth Vader. Kenner’s approach made it affordable for children to collect many characters while also supporting vehicles and playsets.

International versions were sometimes produced or distributed by companies such as Palitoy, which can cause confusion about the manufacturer. Kenner, however, was the company behind the original United States action-figure line. Hasbro later revived the Kenner brand for retro-style Star Wars products.
