Which company acquired Supreme for about $2.1 billion in 2020?
Answer
VF Corporation
Answer
VF Corporation
VF Corporation acquired Supreme for about $2.1 billion in 2020.
The deal was announced in November 2020 and brought Supreme into the portfolio of a major apparel group. VF Corporation already owned brands such as The North Face, Vans, Timberland, and Dickies, making Supreme part of a broader international clothing business.
The acquisition did not mark Supreme’s founding or its first outside investment. The Carlyle Group had previously bought a 50% stake in the brand in 2017. VF later became Supreme’s owner before selling the label in 2024.
The transaction is sometimes confused with the later sale to EssilorLuxottica. VF Corporation was the 2020 buyer; EssilorLuxottica became the next owner four years later.
