The Naked Gun won Best Comedy at the 2026 Critics Choice Awards after starring Liam Neeson as a police lieutenant.
The Naked Gun is a 2025 comedy reboot of the police-parody franchise. Neeson plays Lt. Frank Drebin Jr., following the character’s connection to Leslie Nielsen’s earlier Frank Drebin. Pamela Anderson, Paul Walter Hauser, and other cast members appear in the film directed by Akiva Schaffer.
At the 31st Critics Choice Awards on January 4, 2026, the movie won the Best Comedy category. That award was separate from Best Picture and from individual acting awards, recognizing the film’s overall achievement as a comedy.
The film continues the franchise’s tradition of visual gags, deadpan delivery, and parody of police procedurals. Although it is a reboot, it is not the same movie as the 1988 film The Naked Gun: From the Files of Police Squad! The 2025 release uses the same broad comic world while introducing a new lead character.
