The Naked Gun won Best Comedy at the 2026 Critics Choice Awards.
The film is a 2025 revival of the police-spoof franchise associated with Leslie Nielsen’s earlier Naked Gun movies. The new version stars Liam Neeson as Frank Drebin Jr., continuing the series’ tradition of deadpan jokes, slapstick action, and deliberately absurd police investigations.
The Critics Choice comedy category included The Ballad of Wallis Island, Eternity, Friendship, The Phoenician Scheme, and Splitsville. The award recognized the film itself rather than an individual performer or screenplay.
The Naked Gun’s franchise history can cause confusion with the 1988 film of the same main title and its sequels. The 2026 award went to the newer 2025 film.
