Which club's home stadium is Old Trafford?
Answer
Manchester United
Answer
Manchester United
Manchester United’s home stadium is Old Trafford. The club moved there in 1910, and the ground has remained central to its identity for more than a century.
Opened on 19 February 1910, Old Trafford was designed by architect Archibald Leitch and originally held about 80,000 spectators. Manchester United’s first match there was against Liverpool, although the visitors won 4–3. The stadium is in the Greater Manchester borough of Trafford, rather than in Manchester’s city centre.
Old Trafford is often nicknamed the “Theatre of Dreams”, a phrase associated with its long history of major matches, title celebrations and European nights. It was badly damaged by German bombing during the Second World War and reopened in 1949 after reconstruction.
A common mix-up is with Manchester City’s former home, Maine Road, or its current stadium, the Etihad Stadium. Neither club shares Old Trafford: it is Manchester United’s ground, while the stadium is also used for museum tours, conferences and other events.
