Chelsea won the Monday match of the 2026–27 Premier League opening weekend.
Chelsea defeated Fulham 3–2 at Craven Cottage on Monday 24 August 2026. It was the final fixture of the opening round, following Arsenal’s Friday opener and the larger Saturday and Sunday programmes. Chelsea therefore ended the first weekend with three points from an away victory.
The match was a west London derby, since Fulham and Chelsea are both based in London. Craven Cottage is Fulham’s home ground, while Chelsea’s home stadium is Stamford Bridge. The result was one of the opening weekend’s highest-scoring games, alongside Brighton’s 4–0 win and Newcastle’s 2–2 draw with Liverpool.
The question is sometimes misread because Fulham hosted the match. Hosting a fixture does not identify the winner: Fulham were the home side, but Chelsea won 3–2. It was also separate from Brentford’s Saturday victory over Tottenham.
