Leeds United were the only away winners during the 2026–27 Premier League opening weekend.
Leeds defeated Nottingham Forest 1–0 at the City Ground on Saturday 22 August 2026. Anton Stach scored the winning goal in the 88th minute, giving the visitors a late victory in a match that had appeared likely to finish level.
The other away teams did not win. Coventry City, Manchester United, Sunderland, Crystal Palace, Aston Villa and Tottenham Hotspur all lost on their travels. Liverpool drew 2–2 at Newcastle, so that match supplied an away point but not an away victory.
This distinction matters because opening-weekend summaries often group all non-home results together. Leeds were the only club to take three points away from home, while two home sides—Brighton and Arsenal—recorded the round’s largest wins. The result also made Leeds’ return to the Premier League especially positive.
