Which club was the 2026–27 Premier League opening-weekend leader after beating Aston Villa 4–0?

Brighton & Hove Albion were the 2026–27 Premier League opening-weekend leaders after beating Aston Villa 4–0.

Brighton’s victory came at the American Express Stadium on Sunday 23 August 2026. The four-goal margin was the biggest winning margin among the opening round’s results, giving Brighton a goal difference of plus four.

Arsenal and Brentford also won by three goals, while Everton and Hull City recorded two-goal victories. Brighton therefore moved above those clubs on goal difference after all ten opening-weekend matches had been played.

The distinction is about the table after Matchweek 1, not the first match of the season. Arsenal opened the campaign on Friday, but Brighton finished the round top because their victory produced the strongest goal difference.
