Which club was relegated from the 2007-08 Premier League with only one win?
Answer
Derby County
Answer
Derby County
Derby County were relegated from the 2007–08 Premier League after winning only one league match. Their solitary victory came against Newcastle United in September 2007.
Derby had been promoted from the Championship in 2006–07, but their return to the top flight became one of the poorest seasons in Premier League history. They finished bottom after 38 matches with one win, eight draws and 29 defeats, collecting just 11 points.
The club’s relegation was confirmed on 29 March 2008 after a 2–2 draw with Fulham, making Derby the first Premier League team relegated during March. They eventually finished 13 points from safety and conceded 89 goals, another record for a 38-match Premier League season at the time.
Derby’s one-win record is sometimes confused with Sunderland’s historically low points total in 2005–06. Sunderland won three matches that season, whereas Derby’s 2007–08 campaign remains notable for its single victory and record-low 11-point haul. The other relegated teams that year were Birmingham City and Reading.
