Which club scored four goals in the 2026–27 Premier League opening weekend, the round’s highest total by one team?

The story behind the answer

Brighton & Hove Albion scored four goals in the 2026–27 Premier League opening weekend, the highest total by one team.

Brighton defeated Aston Villa 4–0 on Sunday 23 August 2026. No other club scored four or more goals in the opening round, so Brighton finished the matchweek with the strongest single-team attacking total and a goal difference of plus four.

The result also separated Brighton from several other winners. Arsenal and Brentford won 3–0, while Chelsea won 3–2 away at Fulham. Manchester City scored twice in a 2–1 comeback victory over Bournemouth, and Ipswich Town scored twice against Sunderland.

A team’s highest score is not the same as the round’s highest-scoring match. Newcastle United and Liverpool shared four goals in their 2–2 draw, but Brighton’s four goals all came from one side and were not answered.
