Hull City recorded its first-ever Premier League victory over Manchester United during the 2026–27 opening weekend.
Hull won 2–0 at MKM Stadium, ending an 11-match Premier League winless run against Manchester United. The result was also Hull’s first league victory over the Red Devils since November 1974, when both clubs were in the second tier.
Semi Ajayi and Nobel Mendy scored in the first half. Mendy’s goal was particularly notable because it came on his Hull debut and doubled the advantage before the interval.
The result carried extra significance because Hull had just returned to the Premier League after a nine-year absence. Manchester United, despite finishing third in the previous campaign, opened the new season with a defeat to a promoted opponent.
