Mamadou Sangare assisted Brentford’s first goal against Tottenham Hotspur in the 2026–27 Premier League opener.
Sangare set up Keane Lewis-Potter in the 12th minute, immediately influencing his Brentford debut. The midfielder joined as the club’s record signing and began his Premier League career with an assist in a 3–0 victory over Tottenham.
Brentford extended their lead through Vitaly Janelt before half-time, while Michael Kayode added a third after the interval. The result matched Brentford’s best-ever Premier League finish from the previous season and gave manager Keith Andrews a winning start.
Sangare’s debut was widely noted because he helped create the opening goal and was later pushed forward by his teammates to receive the home crowd’s applause. Brentford’s only disappointment was Igor Thiago’s missed penalty, which prevented them from potentially finishing top of the table on goal difference.
