Which club plays home matches at the Emirates Stadium?
Answer
Arsenal
Answer
Arsenal
Arsenal play their home matches at the Emirates Stadium.
The Emirates Stadium is in Holloway, north London, and has been Arsenal’s home since it opened in 2006. The club moved there from Highbury, its celebrated former ground, because Highbury could not be expanded sufficiently to meet Arsenal’s long-term needs.
Arsenal acquired land at Ashburton Grove and began the stadium project after years of planning and financing. Construction was completed at a reported cost of about £390 million. The move gave Arsenal a modern, larger venue while keeping the club in the borough of Islington and close to its historic base.
For UEFA matches, the stadium is officially referred to as Arsenal Stadium because sponsorship names are not used in UEFA competition branding. A frequent mix-up is with Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, another major north London venue; Tottenham’s ground is in Tottenham, while Arsenal’s Emirates Stadium is in Holloway.
