Chelsea, managed by Xabi Alonso, won on the 2026–27 Premier League opening weekend.
Chelsea defeated Fulham 3–2 at Craven Cottage on Monday 24 August 2026. The result came in the final match of the opening round and gave Chelsea three points.
Xabi Alonso was listed as Chelsea’s manager for the season. His appointment was part of a wider set of managerial changes involving several major Premier League clubs before the campaign began.
The question is deliberately about the manager’s club rather than the opposing team. Fulham were managed by Álvaro Arbeloa, another former Spanish player, but Chelsea were the side that won the fixture.
