Brighton & Hove Albion finished the 2026–27 Premier League opening weekend top of the table.

Brighton began the season with a 4–0 home victory over Aston Villa. That gave them three points and a goal difference of plus four, the strongest winning margin among the opening-round winners.

Arsenal and Brentford also won by three goals, but each had a goal difference of plus three. Everton, Hull City and the other winners recorded smaller margins. Brighton therefore led the standings on goal difference after the first round.
