Manchester United played away to Hull City on the 2026–27 Premier League opening weekend.
The match was held on Saturday 22 August 2026 at Hull City’s MKM Stadium. It was the first Saturday lunchtime game of the season and brought Manchester United to one of the division’s newly promoted clubs.
Hull City had secured promotion back to the Premier League after a nine-year absence. Their return meant the opening round featured each of the three promoted teams: Coventry City hosted Arsenal, Ipswich Town hosted Sunderland and Hull hosted Manchester United.
Hull won the match 2–0. The result gave the promoted side three points and a clean sheet against one of the league’s most historically successful clubs. It was one of several opening-weekend victories by teams that did not concede.
