Manchester United opened the 2026–27 Premier League season away to Hull City.
The match was played at Hull City’s MKM Stadium on Saturday 22 August 2026. It was the first Saturday lunchtime fixture of the new campaign and was scheduled for a 12:30 kick-off in the United Kingdom.
Hull City had been promoted to the Premier League alongside Coventry City and Ipswich Town. Their return followed a nine-year absence from the top flight, making the opening-day meeting with Manchester United an important occasion for the club.
Hull City won the match 2–0. That result gave the promoted side an immediate victory against one of England’s most internationally recognised clubs, while Manchester United began the season without scoring.
