Brentford faced Tottenham Hotspur in the final Premier League match scheduled for Saturday, 22 August 2026.
The match was listed for 17:30 at Brentford Community Stadium. It followed the three Saturday fixtures scheduled for 15:00 and Hull City versus Manchester United, the 12:30 lunchtime match.
Brentford Community Stadium is Brentford’s home venue in west London, with a listed capacity of 17,250. Tottenham Hotspur were the visitors, making this one of several London-related fixtures in the opening round.
The Saturday evening match was distinct from the opening fixture on Friday and the three games scheduled at the traditional 15:00 Saturday slot. The opening round then moved to Sunday before ending on Monday with Fulham versus Chelsea.
