Manchester City came from behind to beat Bournemouth on the 2026–27 Premier League opening weekend.
Manchester City won 2–1 away at Bournemouth on Sunday, 23 August 2026. Bournemouth led for much of the match, but City scored late to complete the comeback.
Marcus Tavernier put Bournemouth ahead in the 84th minute, yet the home side’s lead lasted only briefly. Joško Gvardiol equalised in the 90th minute, and City completed the turnaround in stoppage time.
The victory was the first Premier League win for Manchester City under manager Enzo Maresca. It also made City one of the opening weekend’s two winning away sides, alongside Chelsea, who defeated Fulham 3–2 on the following Monday.
