Which club achieved the domestic treble (PL, FA Cup, EFL Cup) in the same season?
Answer
Manchester City
Answer
Manchester City
Manchester City achieved the domestic treble of the Premier League, FA Cup and EFL Cup in the 2018–19 season.
City won the EFL Cup first, defeating Chelsea on penalties after a goalless final at Wembley on 24 February 2019. They then retained the Premier League title after a close race with Liverpool, finishing one point ahead with 98 points.
The treble was completed on 18 May, when City defeated Watford 6–0 in the FA Cup final. This made them the first English men's team to win the Premier League, FA Cup and League Cup in the same season. The achievement is sometimes confused with a continental treble, which also includes the UEFA Champions League; City did not win that competition in 2018–19.
City also won the Community Shield that season, meaning they held all four major English men's trophies simultaneously. Pep Guardiola managed the team, whose notable contributors included Sergio Agüero, Raheem Sterling, Kevin De Bruyne and Bernardo Silva.
