Which city will host the 2028 Summer Olympics?

The story behind the answer

Los Angeles will host the 2028 Summer Olympics. The Games, officially called the Games of the XXXIV Olympiad, are scheduled for 14 to 30 July 2028.

The International Olympic Committee awarded the 2028 Games to Los Angeles in 2017. The city will become the third to host the Summer Olympics three times, after London and Paris. Los Angeles previously hosted in 1932 and 1984.

The 2028 program is planned to use existing venues across the Los Angeles area, including the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum, which was used for both earlier editions. Organizers also plan to use venues in Long Beach, Inglewood and other Southern California communities.

Brisbane is scheduled to host the 2032 Summer Olympics, while Paris hosted the 2024 Games. Los Angeles’s third hosting edition will therefore be part of a sequence of Games in North America and the Pacific region.
