Which city was Stevie Nicks born in?

The story behind the answer

Stevie Nicks was born in Phoenix, Arizona. She was born Stephanie Lynn Nicks on May 26, 1948, at Good Samaritan Hospital in the city.

Her family moved frequently because her father worked as a vice president for Greyhound. Nicks spent parts of her childhood in places including Albuquerque, El Paso, Salt Lake City, Los Angeles, and San Francisco, which can cause confusion about her birthplace. Phoenix, however, is the canonical answer.

Nicks developed an early interest in music and performed with her grandfather as a child. She later received a Goya guitar for her 16th birthday and wrote her first song. Before joining Fleetwood Mac in 1975, she performed with Lindsey Buckingham in the duo Buckingham Nicks. Her Phoenix birthplace is also notable because she wrote Fleetwood Mac’s later title track “Say You Will” at her Phoenix home in 2001.
