Rock Hill hosted the 2024 UCI BMX World Championships, two years before Brisbane hosted the 2026 edition.
The championships were held in Rock Hill, South Carolina, from May 17 to 18, 2024. Racing took place at the Rock Hill BMX Supercross Track, an international facility that had already hosted the UCI BMX World Championships in 2017. Returning to the same city gave the event a proven championship venue and an experienced local organizing team.
The UCI BMX World Championships determine the sport’s world champions across elite and other categories. In 2024, American Alise Willoughby won the women’s elite title, while France’s Joris Daudet won the men’s elite championship. The competition also served as an important pre-Olympic event ahead of the Paris Games.
Rock Hill is in York County, South Carolina, near Charlotte, North Carolina. It is easy to confuse the city with other recent cycling hosts, including Nantes, Glasgow, and Copenhagen, but those cities hosted different UCI events or editions. The 2024 BMX World Championships were specifically held in Rock Hill.
