Which city hosted the 2006 Winter Paralympics?
Answer
Turin
Answer
Turin
Turin hosted the 2006 Winter Paralympic Games in Italy.
The Games took place from 10 to 19 March 2006, shortly after the Turin Winter Olympics. They were the first Winter Paralympics organized in Italy and used venues in Turin and nearby mountain locations. About 486 athletes from 39 countries competed in four sports: alpine skiing, biathlon, cross-country skiing and ice sledge hockey.
Turin is sometimes confused with Cortina d’Ampezzo, which hosted the 1956 Winter Olympics, or with Vancouver, host of the 2010 Winter Paralympics. The Italian event was also notable for the continuing integration of Olympic and Paralympic venue planning in a shared host city.
