Cole Palmer was voted Premier League Player of the Matchweek after the 2026–27 opening round.
Palmer played a decisive role in Chelsea’s 3–2 away victory over Fulham at Craven Cottage. He assisted João Pedro for Chelsea’s opening goal and then scored Chelsea’s third goal early in the second half.
The award followed a strong all-round performance in the west London derby. Palmer led Chelsea’s attacking contribution and was central to the winning start under new manager Xabi Alonso.
Palmer’s award can be confused with the match’s official goalscorers. João Pedro and Morgan Rogers also scored for Chelsea, but Palmer was the player selected for the Matchweek honour.
