Cole Palmer scored and assisted in Chelsea’s 3–2 win over Fulham during the 2026–27 Premier League opener.
Palmer assisted João Pedro’s opener and then scored Chelsea’s third goal at Craven Cottage. His contribution helped Chelsea defeat Fulham in a five-goal west London derby on Monday, 24 August.
João Pedro put Chelsea ahead after only 31 seconds. Fulham equalised through Josh King, while Morgan Rogers restored Chelsea’s lead before Palmer’s second-half finish. Gonzalo García scored Fulham’s second goal, but Chelsea held on.
The result also gave Xabi Alonso a winning start as Chelsea manager. Palmer was later voted the opening Matchweek’s Player of the Matchweek after collecting 40 percent of the fan vote. João Pedro was the match’s other major Chelsea contributor, but Palmer was the player involved in both a goal and an assist.
