Connor is the main protagonist of Assassin's Creed III.
Born Ratonhnhaké:ton, Connor is a Kanien'kehá:ka man who becomes an Assassin during the American Revolutionary War. The game follows his conflict with the Templars and his efforts to protect his community amid the upheaval of the eighteenth century.
Connor is commonly known by his adopted name, Connor Kenway. His father is Haytham Kenway, a major Templar character and the playable protagonist of the game's opening sequence. This family connection is central to the narrative and links the game to Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag.
Assassin's Creed III was released in 2012. Its historical sections feature Boston, New York, and the frontier, while its modern-day sections continue Desmond Miles's story. Connor is not the same character as Altaïr, Ezio, or Edward Kenway, who headline other mainline entries.
