Jack Hinshelwood scored twice in the first 31 minutes of Brighton & Hove Albion’s 4–0 victory over Aston Villa on the 2026–27 Premier League opening weekend. His double helped Brighton build a four-goal lead before half-time.
Brighton’s other first-half goals came from Maxim De Cuyper and an own goal by Aston Villa defender Victor Lindelöf. Villa were further weakened when João Gomes was sent off five minutes before half-time. Brighton slowed after the interval but had already secured the biggest opening-weekend win.
Hinshelwood had finished the previous season strongly, scoring three goals in Brighton’s final five matches. His two-goal opening display continued that momentum and made him one of the weekend’s standout performers. Brighton became only the fourth team to score four first-half goals in a Matchweek 1 fixture.
