Michael Kayode scored Brentford’s third goal in their 3–0 victory over Tottenham Hotspur in 2026–27 Matchweek 1.
Brentford beat Tottenham 3–0 at home on Saturday, 22 August 2026. Keane Lewis-Potter scored first, Vitaly Janelt doubled the advantage, and right-back Michael Kayode completed the victory with the final goal.
The result gave Brentford a perfect start under head coach Keith Andrews. It was also a difficult opening for Tottenham, who began the season under Roberto De Zerbi. Brentford’s three-goal margin made the fixture one of the clearest wins of the opening round.
Kayode is an Italian defender of Nigerian heritage who developed in the Juventus and Fiorentina systems before moving to Brentford. His usual role is at right-back, making his goal a notable contribution from a defensive player. The scorers can be confused because Lewis-Potter and Janelt also scored for Brentford, but Kayode supplied the third and final goal.
